Abstract

Shafiq ur Rehman is one of the renowned humourists in Urdu literature. He also gained much popularity as a short story writer. He himself was the hero of his short stories. Even the supporting characters are the real ones. They are talkative, naughty, emotional and full of life. Shafiq ur Rehman creates humour, gaiety and world of activities through these characters in his short stories. In this article, his representative characters Shaitan, Maqsood Ghora, Razia, Tammana, Hakoomat Aapa, Budi, Judge Sahib, Mein, Nannha and Nannhi have been discussed.
